A Day at Kennywood Amusement Park in Pittsburgh, PA

We went to a fun amusement park with our friends the Pacheco's. We all had a wonderful time and enjoyed our day! Oliver did pretty good he wasn't happy at first because he wanted to run around everywhere and not sit in his stroller. But, after awhile he adjusted and we all had a good time being together. Kennywood was a lot like Lagoon in Utah. More memories were created that will never be forgotten.

Happy Father's Day Dada! We love you so much! You are the best dada anybody could ask for! We love you, We love you, We love you! Thank you for all of your hard work and loving us so much! You are the #1 Daddy!

Father's Day was a lot of fun! We got up early and went and ate breakfast at Eat-N-Park. Very similar to a Denny's yet so much funner! Chris calls it the Greasy Spoon. Why? You would have to ask him. After breakfast we headed to the Pittsburgh Zoo! It was a very busy and crowded day but so much fun to see all of the neat animals. We really enjoyed spending time with our daddy! He seemed to enjoy himself too! Good to get away from the books, rotations and the same old. Pittsburgh Zoo is a cool place to visit. Happy Father's Day, Chris you are the best daddy that we could as for!

Lucas Graduated from Pre-K on June 12, 2009 now he is ready for Kindergarten! Yahoo!

Here in Pittsburgh you can have your children be a part of the preschool program that is part of the school district. They call it Pre-K. Lucas had the opportunity to go to school everyday just like his sister Eliza and learn! He really did well and enjoyed it once he was there! If you asked him how school was he would say, " I told you I do not want to talk about it right now." Every once in a while he would talk about school and express how much he was liking it! His teachers would also give me the run down that he was a great student and enjoyed helping other classmates learn who were struggling! So when Pre-K graduation was here Lucas was so excited! We are so happy for you buddy! You are an awesome stud boy! We love you so much and can't wait to see you continue to grow and learn as you enter Kindergarten! Keep up the awesome work and don't ever forget how much mommy and daddy love you! Always and forever! Congratulations on graduating form Pre-K! You rock!

Eliza was so excited to graduate from kindergarten! It was all she could talk about weeks before this big day! Being a mom I couldn't believe this day had arrived, it seemed like yesterday she was getting on the bus for her first day of Kindergarten. As I always say.."Time just flies!" Chris and I are so happy for Eliza and how much she loves can we say loves school! She did very well and we hope that this love for school will continue on through the years! Eliza we love you and please do not ever forget this! You are amazing and one incredible little girl! What will high school graduation be like? Ah lets not go there yet! Grandpa 'G' and Grandma 'Fan' come to Pittsburgh to Visit Us in May 2009

You have got to love it when airlines have great deals going on that allows family to spend time together! In April my dad called me and said, "We are finally going to come and visit you in the Burgh!" I thought he was kidding and said, "Are you serious?" He wasn't kidding and on May 15, 2009 we were picking up my dad and his wife at the airport! It was a great visit. Very laid back and enjoyable! The kids gulped up every moment with their Grandpa 'G' and Grandma 'Fan!' As you will see in the pictures we had a good time! We went on the incline to get a great view of the city! Played lots of Wii, went to a Pirates baseball game, went to a park and played, laughed, Eliza and Lucas had sleepovers every night with their grandma and grandpa, we relaxed and enjoyed each others company until it was time to say see you later! Thank you Grandpa 'G' and Grandma 'Fan' for coming to the Burgh! We love you and can't wait to see you and all of our wonderful family and friends in July and August!

Pittsburgh Pirates and the Colorado Rockies Baseball Game watching it in the Pepsi Box!

When my dad said that they were coming out to visit us in Pittsburgh we immediately knew that we would have to go to a Pirates baseball game! My dad loves baseball and to be able to go toa MLB Stadium and watch it is even better! The day we were going to the game we received a phone call from our good friends the Weber's who invited us to go to the game with them and sit in the Pepsi Box! We all had a blast in the box having our own seating area, tons of food and drinks and just being together watching the Pirates win for once! A memory to never be forgotten!

PARTY, PARTY AND MORE BIRTHDAY FUN!
Eliza and Lucas' birthdays are only 2 weeks apart! So from February 17th to March 1st it is one stop party fun!!! The kids get so excited for themselves and for each other! For their Birthday party this year they begged to go to Chuck E Cheese. It was down right crazy but a lot of fun! We hope that Eliza and Lucas had fun because mommy and daddy had severe anxiety for the next couple of days! Warning to all parents, avoid Chuck E Cheese by all costs for birthday parties. Fun for kids, but not for parents! Ha, Ha!

A SPECIAL GIFT!

What is a special gift? A gift that is very special, right? That answer could be correct but looking back Lucas Christopher Steele was our god sent special gift! Chris and I were fresh new parents to our Eliza and living the military Air Force life in Minot, North Dakota which seemed to be going pretty good. A trip home to Utah in May was planned and Chris and I were going to head off to Moab for a couple of days and have Eliza stay with my mom and Brent. Has anybody ever told you that when you have a baby for a couple months after you can be quite the fertal mertal? Well, Chris and I didn't think much about it. Moab was an ENJOYABLE trip and need we say more? Birth Control is 99% child proof, right? We visited with family, Eliza was loved by all family and friends and back to Minot we went. I had found a running stroller at a yard sale and was running with Eliza almost every morning and decided that running my half marathon in Minnesota was a great goal to accomplish. Wouldn't you know it I even convinced Chris into training with me! Well that goal came to an abrupt end for me, yet not for Chris he did end up running the half marathon for himself and me. Anyways I just wasn't feeling myself and after 3 pregnancy tests I finally accepted the fact that I was pregnant and that my new baby Eliza and unborn child would only be 13 months apart! Can we say CRAZY! Chris and I didn't know anything different so once again we were so excited! When we found out we were having a baby boy we were thrilled. To be able to have a girl and a boy was absolutely wonderful! After a long and challenging pregnancy Lucas decided to come to the world on March 1st at 6:36am and might we add 3 weeks early!!! He was the calmest baby. Hardly cried and from the get go loved his Binkie (his meme) Lucas would sit in his swing for hours and not even peep. By the time he was 9 months old he didn't need the swing battery opertated. He learned how to swing himself. Lucas is our perfectionistic child. everything has to be just so, his way or the highway. And yet he is our cuddle bug and so sensitive to others. He isn't one that shouts out, "I need attention." You can always find him doing something either with somebody or on his own (which he prefers.) He is our sports nut! He wakes up every morning between 5:30 and 6:00am and turns on Sports Center or old rerun sports games on channel 471 or 417. Lucas' smile can melt your heart! He is so funny and has a giggle that is contagious and before you know it you are laughing your guts out too! The other day Eliza and Lucas were invited to go see "Monster's vs. Aliens" with their friends that are twin girls and are in Lucas' Pre-K class. After the movie they all went out to eat at Eat-N-Park. The twins mom, Karie asked Eliza if she had a boyfriend? Eliza said, "No." So Karie asked Sarah (one of the twins) if she had a boyfriend and she replied back, "oh no!" Her sister Ava who is the shy one piped up and said, "Mom, I have a boyfriend and his name is Lucas." From what I was told Lucas' face turned bright red, he started to giggle and said "oh no, oh no we are just friends." For the next 10 minutes he couldn't stop laughing and of course everybody at the table started laughing right along with him. Quite the ladies man! I believe Eliza and Lucas knew mommy and her pregnancies wouldn't handle twins but as soon as Eliza was born Lucas was coming too! We love our suprise gift! We are so blessed to have him in our lives! Lucas we love you always and forever! And thank you for always surprising us with who you are and what you are determined to do! Happy 5th Birthday Handsome Stud!

WHAT DOES A SHRIMP BOAT, CHRIS HOLDING A BLOWFISH, AND ME BEING EXTREMELY SICK HAVE IN COMMON?

It was July 2002, Chris and I had been living in Biloxi, Mississippi for 5 months and were enjoying the Air Force life. My mom, her husband Brent and my sister Steph decided to come and visit us over the 4th of July. I hadn't been feeling the best, really light headed, nauseated, extremely exhausted and just didn't feel myself. I had been running a lot and told Chris that I was going to train for a half marathon. I was increasing my mileage running and just thought my body was adjusting to this and didn't think much of not feeling so well. Being pregnant though was out of the question. My family arrived and my sister said, "you look like a little mom." I thought that was kind of weird, but what do 16 year olds know. During their visit we decided that going on a Shrimp Boat ride would be a lot fun. When we were on the Shrimp Boat I didn't feel the best and thought that I was dealing with a little sea sick. We were all listening to the tour guide give his presentation when he asked if anybody would want to hold a Blowfish. Chris volunteered and that was the end for me. I got so nauseated and sick that I ran to the top deck and spent the rest of my time throwing up over the edge of the boat. My step dad Brent went and found my mom and said, " I think you have a pregnant daughter who is throwing up on the top deck of the boat." That was just the beginning of my throwing up days. Yes, I was pregnant and after one long and extremely sick pregnancy our Eliza Alice Steele finally arrived on February 17, 2003. She was the cutest baby, but yet had a streak of spitfire written all over her. I can't believe that my baby girl is 6 years old. Where does the time go? What I do know is that I love her with all of my heart and I am the luckiest mom in the world to have such a wonderful daughter as she is. Eliza as you celebrated you 6th birthday I hope it was all that you wanted and more! Also, that you will always remember how much your daddy and mommy love you always and forever! HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY ELIZA!!!!

Happy Birthday to our Sweet Eliza!

Eliza was so excited for her birthday! When Christmas was over she would ask on a daily basis how many more days until her birthday. Sometimes she would get so frustrated and cry because she wanted her birthday to be that day. When the 17th of February finally arrived she was the happiest little lady ever!

I remember birthdays when I was little. They were the best! My mom would make my birthday very special. I always knew that when I woke up our dining table would be decorated and presents would be waiting for me to open. I am doing my best to have our dining table decorated for our kids on their birthday too. Birthdays are so special for each child! The day they were brought into the world...... brings tears to a parent's eye.

Keeping it a Secret....

Have you ever tried keeping a secret from children for a good couple of months and yet try to communicate with anybody but them about the secret? It seems without fail little ears are always tuned in. For me I can't seem to keep a secret for the life of me. It bubbles up inside me and then I feel like a volcano ready to explode wanting to share it. So anyways a couple months before Christmas my mom, Brent, my brother Garrett, his wife Jessica and their darling 2 boys decided that for Christmas they were going to fly out to the "Burgh" and visit the good o'le Steele fam. No problem we love to have family and friends visit, but then my mom said lets keep it a secret from the kids...... Needless to say the secret was let out of the bag a few times but as parents it is easy to cover it up. Until Christmas day arrived and Eliza thought that I was absolutely crazy. Instead of relaxing and enjoying this wonderful day. I was stressed out about having the house spotless. Why? I don't know why... but when guests come to visit, you want it to be perfect, even though it isn't going to stay that way for long. So Eliza clued in and asked, " is somebody coming to our house or something?" So then the secret was finally revealed to its fullness and Eliza and Lucas were so excited. We had a blast Christmas night picking up family from the Airport and the whole week was never boring. It seemed we traveled a lot to see Niagra Falls, the Amish Community in Lancaster, Pa, Went and saw downtown Pittsburgh along with enjoying time together and letting the cousins play and build forever memories. Family is such a blessing. Thank you Mom(Nana), Brent(Bampa), Garrett, Jessica, Gabriel and James for taking the time to visit. It will never be forgotten! I would have to say the Secret was well worth it!

Christmas Eve 2008 and Clam Chowder

Chris was on Christmas Break and we had a blast with him focusing all of his attention on us. Because we are away from Utah and family Chris decided to keep the tradition going at his mom's home and made clam chowder. It was absolutely delicious and even the kids loved it.

Lucas was so excited to have his family come watch him sing!

Lucas' class sang "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and he practiced and practiced at home. If we tried singing with him he would critique us and tell us when we weren't singing it correctly. Instead of singing," you better not pout you better not cry." He would sing it you better not pout you better not pout...." But, a 4 year old is always right.

Oliver one morning started watching Barney and had his favorite book in his hand. He would watch the show for a moment and then go back to reading. He was so cute to observe but it was hard to interrupt him to take a picture without disturbing his Barney and book time.

Oh It Is Bath Time!!!!!

So the other night I wasn't multi tasking as well as I should have been. Chopping up veggies was taking way to long and Oliver wasn't having anymore patience with mommy and he wanted to be fed ASAP. Eliza offered to feed him his baby food and immediately I thought, "Oh this could be dangerous!!!!" But, then disregarded this thought and let her feed him. The pictures tell the whole story. Don't worry bath time started right after!!!!!! They sure had fun.
